Central Minnesota Elder Network is located in Alexandria, MN and was incorporated in September 1996 as a non-profit organization. Through years of experience and service, the staff and volunteers of Elder Network have seen the many positive effects that occurred by offering dignified treatment and fostering independence in the elderly community. We have witnessed countless cases of increased self-esteem, improved mental and physical health, in addition to enhanced quality of life for our clients.

Our History

In the spring of 1995, the Parish Nurse at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN learned about a program in Rochester, MN called Elder Network. It was a program designed to meet the mental health needs of older adults by educating seniors to become peer volunteers for other seniors. A group of 20 interested professionals met over the course of several months, determined the need in our community and ultimately replicated the Elder Network program in Douglas County. Over the years our services have expanded to include respite care, transportation, and light chores. We continue to seek and refine solutions that adhere to the concept of aging in place.
